(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:)

“The Little House That Could”

In an age of “tear downs” and “McMansions” it’s refreshing to see a small part of Westport’s history being preserved. Miro Builders, designers and builders of luxury homes, has again been recognized for their commitment to excellence as well as a commitment to their community as they have won two awards for their creative thinking and efforts in restoring a cottage on Hillspoint Road. The 2011 HOBI award was presented to Miro Builders for special recognition of a “Not So Big Home Remodel by the Home Builders Association of Connecticut. It is the fourth HOBI award won by Miro Builders. The second of the two awards received was a Preservation Award given from the Town of Westport’s Historic District Commission and was presented “In Recognition Of The Sensitive Preservation And Rehabilitation Of A Colonial Revival House”.

Coined “The Little House That Could” it received its name through its owner’s Carolyn and Joe Wilkinson and their friends who witnessed the challenges and perseverance that this little house endured through the journey of becoming the charming cottage it is today. The interior creatively reminds one of a sophisticatedly understated SOHO loft with an open floor plan, exposed centerpiece antique brick fireplace, exquisite beam work, an impressively quaint kitchen with stunning Mother of Pearl countertops along with all the modern day amenities.  As Don Miro, the owner of Miro Builders has stated, “though we mostly design and build new homes we are always honored to be given the opportunities and challenges of restoring these older classic homes. We take great pride in the many awards we have received for our diverse services.  Westport is a very special community and we always appreciate contributing to its charming character.”
